Rudolf Laban

Rudolf von Laban (1879-1958) was an Austro-Hungarian dance theorist and teacher best known for his scientific approach to the movement of the human body. Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) is a system of interpreting and documenting human movement based on his theories where all movement is divided into four categories: body, effort, shape and space. Laban’s work in the area of human movement has influenced modern educational dance and actor training.
